Trends come and go, but the way we feel about them months after they pass resonates. One of the ways we look at trends is through a color lens. From the way a beautiful neutral makes an entire space feel sleek and clean, to how a punch of tropical color sparks innovation and gets the creative juices flowing. Here are three ways we are celebrating trend spotting with color in 2017:
Subtle Sophistication: White
The most popular color for backdrops, Instagram snaps, and most rooms we place our furniture, white is a breathe-easy hue that is easy to apply to any space. Whether you’re looking to add a subtle hint of contrast or want a completely clean look, the right white amplifies the rest of the space’s design and quietly lets the furnishings and décor do the talking. Give your dresser new life with a fresh coat of white paint, or refinish your mouldings in a pearly shade for just a hint of cleaned-up elegance.
Make a Statement: Emerald
Emerald is a color that lurks within everyone’s trend reports but doesn’t get the limelight it deserves. With its strikingly rich coloration and adaptability, emerald is one of our favorite ways to make a statement. Perfect for an oversized dresser, curated credenza, or accent wall, this glamorous shade has the ability to transform a room from drab to fab, or add subtle flair with hints of color via accessories and smaller furnishings.
Everlasting Appeal: Navy
We can’t seem to escape from a beautiful navy (nor do we want to). A great navy color can be a neutral, allowing the rest of the space to shine, or it can be the showstopper, drawing all eyes toward its beautiful richness. One of our favorite ways to use this color the decade is in a pattern. Vertical stripes, dots, and geometric prints are brought into the 21st century with the introduction of the perfect navy hue. Highlight your favorite shade of navy by incorporating a fabric into your design; the tone-on-tone action is sure to please.
Fads come and go, and certain colors only span a season. However, a beautiful white, glamorous emerald, and classic navy are approachable no matter your personal style or project. Use just one or mix all three for a decadent color palette that is sure to turn a few heads this season.
