Come rain (like today) or shine (tomorrow’s hopeful forecast) designers descend upon High Point Fall Market, taking place Oct. 19-24, 2013. It’s a time when they can tour hundreds of world-class showrooms, attend endless parties, enjoy a much anticipated Beach Boys concert as well as participate in priceless networking and educational programming.
ASID arrived on the scene bright and early this morning for the Designer’s Orientation with ASID leader Tim Schelfe who gave his insider’s tips and tricks for getting the most out of the world’s biggest design show. Then it was off to experience a few of the fantastic showrooms Market has to offer. But with 180 buildings, 11.5 million square feet and approximately 2,000 exhibitors, it took some planning and a bit of map pointing to ensure we capitalize on our time here.
Despite our best efforts, we admit we got lost for a few minutes; but who can blame us? We did, however, see our street banners and take a few #ProductPeek photos—make sure to check them out on Instagram! Along the way we asked company representatives what they’re most looking forward to over the next few days and each answer was as unique as the products their companies offer. Brooke Feldman of Nourison, “Since it’s my first High Point it’s really exciting to be here and be exposed to a different market – High Point is furniture central so as a rug producer and importer it’s wonderful to meet and interact with this group of designers!”
Over the next few days we look forward to covering the Designer Viewpoints Series, presented by High Point Market Authority, ASID and Horchow, on residential evidence-based design, diversity in design and color trends of 2014 as well as visiting Industry Partners and providing you with more of #ProductPeek, interview sound bites from your favorite companies. Meanwhile, tell us what you like most about or are most looking forward to at this Market using #ASIDHP. And don’t forget to visit our booth next to the High Point Theatre during the DVS for a stress-ball-turned-business-card-holder swag and a sneak peek at the 2014 Design Industry Outlook!
